Zusammenfassung Einleitung Die vorliegende Studie ermittelt die Lebenszeitprävalenz chronischer Rückenschmerzen bei Altenpflegekräften in rheinland-pfälzischen Einrichtungen und identifiziert potentielle Einflussfaktoren. Methodik Im Rahmen einer Querschnittserhebung wurden 155 Pflegekräfte aus 5 Altenpflegeeinrichtungen untersucht und schriftlich befragt. Ausschnitte aus verschiedenen standardisierten Fragebögen wurden mit eigenen Fragen kombiniert und ergänzt durch eine körperliche Untersuchung mit 2 standardisierten Belastungstests. Abstract This paper explores an alternative view of design as an emergent process of engagement and learning, as opposed to the traditional view of systems design as a problem-solving tool. Ageing in Spain has increased considerably and elderly people often find themselves in a situation of great dependence. Facing this situation, many have had the support of immigrant caregivers from Latin America. This research had the purpose to know the social representations (SR) of these caregivers, living in Valencia (Spain), about immigration, care and elderly care. It involved the participation of 35 immigrants who responded the Word Association Test and a socio-demographic questionnaire. Risks While Deinstitutionalizing Long-Term Elderly Care: The Case of Latvia

The study deals with the deinstitutionalization of long-term care for elderly people in Latvia. The aim of this study is to identify the risks that elderly people, discharged from long-term care institutions, are likely to face. The research method of this case study is document analysis and a semi-structured interview. The research shows that some mismatch between the declared political aims and the current situation which was clarified through interviews exists. The identified risks have been grouped, analysed, conclusions drawn are provided in the paper.
